IN-LINE ELECTROMAGNETIC INSPECTION OF PCCP
Inspection of embedded-cylinder pipe is possible using an in-line inspection tool. The tool operates using an electromagnetic technique called remote field eddy current/transmission coupling. The inspection system, consisting of an internal pair of coaxial coils with instrumentation, can be passed through a manhole. Field tests in both 1200 mm (48 in.) and 2100 mm (84 in.) embedded cylinder pipes have been conducted and sensitivity to a single broken wire anywhere along the length or circumference of the pipe, has been demonstrated.
