FEED/DRAIN SYSTEM KEEPS ATHLETIC TURF HEALTHY
This article describes the Prescription Athletic Turf (PAT[R]) system which keeps a constant level of moisture available to 130,000 square feet of specially bred grass in the Turner Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia. The PAT system is a computerized, fully automated system, with touch-screen controls which can drain 102,000 gallons of water an hour. The vacuum-enhanced drainage system includes more than four miles of buried piping that also allows sub-irrigation -- watering the grass roots directly with underground "sprinklers."
