CHOOSING THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO SECURE CAR PARKS AND CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW
Preventing illegal parking is probably the most difficult problem, and there are also ever-present requirements to deter thieves, vandals, and joyriders. Conventional rising arm barriers offer some protection, but have several drawbacks. Automatic rising bollards protect against vehicle attack, and can be used to prevent unauthorised entry and control vehicle movements. Several other types of bollard are also used. For types of area with relatively infrequent security and traffic control duties, competitively priced bollards can offer easy installation and simple maintenance. Hydraulically operated bollards are suited to more frequent use, and are widely used by local authorities, public utilities, and general commercial and industrial premises. These types of automatic bollards are flexible enough to be used in a wide variety of applications where conventional barriers would be unsuitable. The need to follow strict planning and conservation policies was an important reason to increase vehicle security and provide dedicated access to allocated spaces at the Empire, Bath, a development of luxury flats in Central Bath, England.
