AUTOMATIC TRAFFIC RECORDS 1988-1998
This report contains graphic comparisons of daily and monthly traffic collected on Iowa's highway system at 125 Permanent Continuous automatic Traffic Recorder locations. Fourteen (114) stations are located on the Rural Interstate system, seven (7) are on the Municipal Interstate system, forty-five (45) are on the Rural Primary system, twenty-two (22) are on the Municipal Primary system, twenty-four (24) are on the Rural Secondary system and thirteen (13) are on the City Street system. The report compares travel trends from 1970 to present. Traffic is shown for rural, municipal and statewide travel. Factors for estimating Design Hour Volumes from Annual Average Daily Traffic are shown by highway system. Information from the permanent traffic recorders indicate a 3 percent increase in statewide travel from 1997 to 1998. Final 1998 traffic figures will be published in June 1999.
