1998 TRANSIT FIXED GUIDEWAY INVENTORY

This report includes data on fixed guideways in the U.S. and Canada in operation as of fall 1998, plus those under construction, in design, in planning, and proposed. Data were obtained from a survey of transit agencies and governmental agencies in the U.S. and Canada, and from media accounts, the world wide web, and other sources. Guideways are listed by the urbanized area (metropolitan area in Canada) location and primary transit agency user, potential user, or agency in charge of the project, regardless of who owns, proposes, plans, designs, or constructs the guideway. This report only includes bus fixed guideways 1.0 miles (1.6 km) in length or longer and all rail, ferryboat, and electric trolleybus fixed guideways that are open, under construction, in design, in planning, or proposed.
