INGTELLIGENT SCHEDULING OF CONTRAFLOW CONTROL OPERATION USING HIERARCHICAL PATTERN RECOGNITION AND CONSTRAINED OPTIMIZATION
This paper describes a hierarchical traffic flow pattern recognition mechanism that is capable of predicting the oncoming traffic demands as needed in contraflow traffic control. An application of the proposed method to the dynamic contraflow operation control at a tunnel in Vancouver, Britsh Columbia is presented as a case study.
