OZ PUBLIC TRANSPORT GOES PERSONAL

This article describes the personal Public transport (PPT) project, part of the Innovative Public Transport Programme established in Australia. Seven key features of the PPT are outlined: 1) availability of technology, 2) public acceptance, 3) use of multi-hire services, 4) availability of automatic bookings, 5) implement a pilot project with reasonable capital cost and minimal public subsidy, 6) focus on relieving barriers to implementation, and 7) encourage local government participation.
