A HYBRID DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SIMULATING INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS
This paper describes the HiVal/sup TM/(Highway Evaulator) system, a simulation and decision support environment developed to evaluate advanced concepts for intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and in particular, for automated highway systems (AHS). The system is a hybrid of two state- of-the-art client/server technologies for distributed computing. The paper describes HiVal and its application as a concept evaluation test-bed for ITS-ATS.
