This article refers to a study which was conducted to determine whether variable road signs on a motorway in Finland are a viable alternative from a socioeconomical point of view. Investment and maintenance costs of other options were also compared. The effect of variable road signs on time, vehicle and accident costs were analyzed. IN FINNISH WITH SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
