REISTIJDSCHATTERS : EEN OVERZICHT VAN METHODEN EN TOEPASSING TEN BEHOEVE VAN ASTRID [TRAVEL TIME ESTIMATORS : AN OVERVIEW OF METHODS AND APPLICATION FOR ASTRID]

This document reports on a study which looked at the needs and behavior of road users in reply to presenting travel times or delay times instead of queue lengths and the resulting effect on the traffic process. This study presents possible methods for obtaining real-time travel times for the benefit of presentation on Dynamic Route Information Panels (DRIPS). The report first gives an overview of methods for estimating real-time travel times. This is followed by a discussion of the required and available hardware. Based on the selected methods, an algorithm is designed for obtaining real-time travel times on motorway sections. IN DUTCH WITH SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
