DESIGN BY PETRI NETS OF AN INTERSECTION SIGNAL CONTROLLER
In this paper, an optimal signal control device for any generic intersection is presented. It uses a synthesis which takes into account common intersection safety working rules and topology, and is tackled by Petri nets. Petri nets constitute a graphical, flexible and powerful tool adapted to discrete event system synthesis and modeling. This approach furnishes both an optimal control device with respect to working rules and an exact controller model ready to use in any traffic responsive system.
