HIGH-TECH PROGRAM SEEKS TO AID COMMERCIAL CARRIERS : TRANSPORTATION OFFICIALS SEE ECONOMIC BENEFITS IN EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPE
A Maryland and Virginia program called CVISN (Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks) is expected to make operations easier and more efficient for commercial truck and bus companies. This program will aid commercial carriers through the use of a transponder mounted on a vehicle which will transmit a signal to an electronic reader placed beside the road near a weigh station to expedite truck inspections
