SYSTEMES INTELLIGENTS DE TRANSPORT : MODELISATION D'UN PONT PARTIELLEMENT AUTOMATISE [INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS : A MODEL OF A PARTIALLY AUTOMATED BRIDGE]

In this study, the author evaluates the possible gains that full highway automation might offer in an urban context, in particular in the case of a bridge bottleneck on the Champlain bridge in the Montreal area. The study may also be applied to tunnels or highways and the approach is more realistic, since the entrance and egress constraints are explicitly considered. Two automation scenarios are proposed. They are characterized by the automation of respectively one and two lanes for each direction. Two egress strategies are proposed. The study has a descriptive part, bearing on the design and operation aspects of the two proposed scenarios and a second part bearing on the numerical evaluation of these scenarios.
