HIGH-TECH HIGHWAY : IS IT A SMART ROAD OR A DUMB IDEA?

On June 10, 1996 the Montgomery County, Virginia, Board of Supervisors, are to decide the fate of the state's $103 million Smart Road Project. The proposed smart road would serve as an outdoor laboratory for research in intelligent transportation system (ITS) technologies at Virginia Tech and would provide a direct route from Blacksburg to Interstate 81
