REGULATION LAYER CONTROLLER DESIGN FOR AUTOMATED HIGHWAY SYSTEM : PLATOON MERGE AND SPLIT CONTROLLER DESIGN
An automated highway system (AHS) protocol is described which has a four layer hierarchical control architecture: regulation, planning link and network. Emphasis is on the design of platoon merge and split controllers for vehicle longitudinal maneuvers as required in the regulation layer of the AHS protocol.
