CELLULAR DIGITAL PACKET DATA (CDPD) PERFORMANCE FOR IVHS APPLICATIONS
This paper analyzes the capability of cellular digital packet data (CDPD) to provide wide-area Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) services in a typical metropolitan area. Delay-throughput performance results are obtained from MOSS (Mobile Systems Simulator) for a representative city- wide cellular deployment. Both normal peak- period traffic and the case of a major highway incident creating abnormally high localized IVHS data loads are considered.
