STATUS OF INTELLIGENT VEHICLE/HIGHWAY SYSTEMS ACTIVITES IN JAPAN

The purpose of this paper is to present the highlights from a 1992 Institute of Transportation Engineers sponsored Study Tour of Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems in Japan. The paper looks at Japanese systems for traffic management, traveler information, route guidance, and advanced vehicle control systems.
