STRATEGIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR USE WITH TRANSPORT TELEMATICS
This paper describes how integrating a Geographic Information System with a Statistical Information System can create a Strategic Information System. This integration includes a general data model covering attributes, spatial and temporal aspects of traffic--related demographic and infrastructure data. The geographic database covers the complete street network, different levels of spatial subdivisions and addresses. The SCOPE project, in which local referencing is used as a tool for data integration in Advanced Transport Telematics applications, is described.
