ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PAMELA PROJECT WITHIN THE DRIVE I PROGRAMME

Describes the final phase of the project PAMELA (Pricing And Monitoring ELectronically of Automobiles). The objectives of the PAMELA projects, employing microwave communication systems, were to specify, design and ultimately evaluate an intelligent vehicle roadside transponder-based communications system, suitable for supporting automatic debiting applications such as road-use pricing non-stop auto-tolling and car- parking management, as well as other RTI applications, including driver information, traffic control monitoring and guidance.
