MOBILE RADIO TELEMETRY SYSTEM FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Describes a mobile microprocessor-based radio telemetry unit used as a bus monitoring and control system. The techniques used for bus monitoring are described followed by a discussion of the reasons behind the choice of the 4-bit microprocessor used. The hardware and system operation are described in detail and the benefits gained by using a microprocessor- based system in place of hard-wired logic are outlined. The article concludes by briefly discussing microprocessor applications under development and possible future applications in the field of transportation.
