AT&T, LOCKHEED PLAN TO CO-MARKET INTELLIGENT VEHICLE HIGHWAY SYSTEMS : IVHS BASED ON SMART-CARD TECHNOLOGY ARE GAINING ACCEPTANCE
AT&T and Lockheed are teaming up to market IVHS to state and local transportation agencies on a worldwide basis. AT&T's smart card technology is the basis of this endeavor and will enable motorists to pay tolls without stopping the car and receive in-vehicle information. The market for IVHS will reach $200 billion by 2012. AT&T has partnerships with companies in Japan, Italy and Canada, and Lockheed is looking for new direction as defense contracts dwindle
