HIGH-TECH TRAFFIC SOLUTIONS AREN'T ALWAYS SOLUTIONS
The highway lobby, headed by the Highway Users Federation, advocates IVHS ( smart cars and highways) as a solution to traffic congestion. IVHS is, however, a misguided attempt to squeeze more capacity out of an outmoded transportation system: IVHS will actually exacerbate an inefficient land use pattern.
