The Travelpilot IDS is a second-generation automotive driver-guidance system that uses dead-reckoning and map-matching for navigation. It displays road maps to guide the driver. It also can find destinations and display them to the driver. In this paper, the Travelpilot's hardware, software, and maps are discussed.
