LOCATION RULE AND MODELING OF TRAFFIC COUNTING POINTS
The problem how to determine the optimal number and locations of traffic counting points in a road network for a given prior OD (Origin-Destination) distribution pattern is discussed. Four location rules are proposed, and integer linear programming models and heuristic algorithm are developed to determine the counting links satisfying these rules with the knowledge of useful routes between each OD pair.
