MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF ROAD AXIS
Since designing of highways requires taking into account specific conditions, the designer has to be aware of these restraints. Traditionally used straights and circular arcs to design the axis of the highways do not always take into account the difficulties. Thus a different mathematical description of the axis, conducive to the introduction of many conditions of passage characteristic for the desired route of the highway should be introduced. Such a description of axis should give solutions characterized by great flexibility of changes of dynamic relationship in moving vehicles and better coordination of the horizontal and vertical geometry. The purpose of this paper is presentation of mathematical description of the axis of a highway. The description fulfills the above mentioned postulates and makes possible doing a great part of the job by computer.
