ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECTS OF SHORT TERM DRIVE TRAIN OPTIONS ON THE AUTOMOBILE AND RELATED INDUSTRIES. VOLUME II. CHARACTERIZATION OF OPTIONS
This report assesses the potential impact on the automobile and related industries of the production implementation of short term (1976 through early 1980's) drive train and fuel options. Drive train options examined comprise modifications to the conventional spark ignition engine, the use of alternative engine configurations, and modifications to the transmission, the differential, and wheels. Fuel options considered include the control of additives and impurities in gasoline, the increased production of diesel fuel, and lubricant modifications.
