PROVINCEWIDE MONITORING OF TRUCK TRAFFIC USING AUTOMATIC VEHICLE CLASSIFIERS
This study investigates the accuracy of 48 hour automatic vehicle classification (AVC) counts. It looks at the temporal and spatial variations in number and type of trucks, explores the effect of truck distribution and volume errors on overlay designs and operational analysis of road facilities, and discusses the accuracy of truck annual average daily traffic estimates obtained from short period AVC counts.
