FAA INTEGRATED NOISE MODEL USER'S GUIDE
The FAA Integrated Noise Model (INM) provides a conceptually simple method for characterizing aircraft noise near airports. It includes a determination of the total time that the sound level exceeds six different thresholds, and also the equivalent A-weighted sound level, L sub eq, and the day-night average sound level, L sub dn, at a number of points surrounding a particular airport. Evening and nighttime exposures are broken out separately. Thus, several methodologies are integrated into a single model which provides a very complete picture of the noise environment. The computer program INMPROG is available to calculate all of the above information and to present it in tabular form. Plotter output is also generated, for contours of equal exposures to levels above 85 dBA. Equal L sub dn contours may be produced instead, at the user's option. This manual is intended to guide the user of the model through the preparation of data required by this program. A description of the airport and its operations must be assembled onto data forms. A separate chapter specifies the punched card formats, so that the punching of cards is distinct from the collection of data. Technical appendices provide the information required for a computer center to bring up and run the program. (Author)
