INDUCTIVE RADIO (INRAD) PROJECT MANAGER'S SUMMARY : REPORT

The Inductive Radio demonstration project was designed to demonstrate the use of short range, two-way, communications between vehicles and the roadway. This report is an overview from the project manager's perspective. While Inductive Radio (INRAD) was the chosen technology the project attempted to focus on function. The microwave technology emerging in automatic toll collection shares functionality with INRAD. Despite concluding that short range, two-way communications is almost inevitable, the author presents an argument for using one-way communication as location beacons.
