PLANNING, COORDINATION AND EXECUTION OF PERCEPTUAL AND MOTOR ACTIONS IN SENSOR-BASED INTELLIGENT ROBOTS
This dissertation focuses on problems in the design and implementation of a sensor-based intelligent robotic system; specifically, the planning, coordination and execution strategies for perceptual and motor actions in such a system. The author introduces a System ARchitecture using Frames for Intelligent Robots and their Environments (SAFIRE). The system architecture consists of perception, motor, task planner, knowledge-base, user interface and supervisor modules.
