MAGIC MOTORWAYS
From the vantage point of 1940, the author presents his vision of highways, traffic control and automobiles in 1960. The General Motors exhibit Futurama at the 1939 World's Fair in New York is the basis of this text, and the author takes the reader "backstage" to describe the exhibit and to suggest the technical and socio-economic consequences which would result from the adoption of an automated highway system as presented in Futurama. The text is lavishly illustrated with examples of both poor highway planning and motorways of the future
