AUTOMATIC CAR CONTROLS FOR ELECTRONIC HIGHWAYS
This report begins with a description of the present driver-vehicle system. This is followed by a discussion of the function of the General Motors Research automatic controls and how these controls perform their functions. These include automatic guidance, automatic speed control, automatic spacing, and fail-safe operation. The location of car-based components are then described. The report concludes with a section on the advancements in automatic highway travel from General Motors Research.
