EVALUATION OF ROADSIDE FEATURES TO ACCOMMODATE VANS, MINI-VANS, PICKUP TRUCKS AND 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES

National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 22-11 began in June, 1994 and is scheduled to be completed in July, 1998. Project objectives are to evaluate current information on the safety performance of roadside features for each subclass of light trucks, to assess the significance of gaps in safety performance information, and to recommend priorities for future research, testing, and development needed to ensure that roadside features accommodate light trucks. This paper presents a summary of the tentative findings of the project to date.
