FLORIDA'S BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEM PLAN

The Florida Department of Transportation has created a Business Information Systems Plan (BISP). It was designed in order for the FDOT to better meet the needs of taxpayers and to respond quickly to new legislation and public inquires. The BISP was analyzed and it was discovered that the systems were developed as an entity itself. Functionally sound systems were installed, but did non communicate with each other. This resulted in the entire system having to be redesigned. Because of a lack of funding, there will be a lack of resources and staff. The use of the Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool promises quicker response for making changes to existing systems, but CASE can also decrease productivity.
