STUDY ON THE BEHAVIOR OF PILES UNDER INCLINED LOADS
An analytical solution to the calculation of deflection and internal forces of flexible piles under inclined loads is presented in this paper based on the current M-method hypothesis. Model tests of flexible piles under inclined loads at various angles are carried out with aluminium hollow pipes in homogeneous sand. The calculation results show that the theoretical values agree well with measured ones. On the basis of these, a practical empiric formula to determine the ultimate bearing capacity of piles under inclined loads is set up according to a polar bearing capacity diagram.
