PAVEMENT MATERIALS SELECTION AND EVALUATION UTILIZING KNOWLEDGE-BASED EXPERT SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY (WITH DISCUSSION)
This paper suggests that a Pavement Materials Selection and Evaluation (PMSE) process, utilizing Knowledge Based Expert System (KBES) technology, represents a new and pwoerful tool for achieving such mix design success. It can be used to integrate the various activities and interpret the results such that the designed mix can meet the production, hauling, placing and in-service environmental and loading requirements in an optimal way.
