PAPERS PRESENTED AT SESSION TWO, ROADSIDE DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE, OF THE SYMPOSIUM ON MANAGEMENT OF ROAD MAINTENANCE HELD BY THE AUSTRALIAN ROAD RESEARCH BOARD AT LAUNCESTON, TASMANIA ON 5 APRIL 1974

The following papers were presented: Roadside Development by Thorneycroft, IV which dealt with practical considerations concerning rest areas and the treatment of embankments and currings in a wet environment (summary only in the proceedings); The engineering management of "off the carriageway" road assets by Glazebrook, TM in which the significant factors that affect the management of a system, not the technical aspects, as such, of the tasks to be performed are outlined, with examples; Roadside management-a synopsis by Simons, JP in which the responsibilities of those undertaking roadside management are set out. The author stresses that man's environment should not be impaired or endangered. /TRRL/
