AN URBAN PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT DATA BASE
An urban pedestrian accident data collection system was established in seven major cities. The system which uses a combination of the regular police accident report form and a specifically designed supplementary data form, identifies the recurring accident patterns, the precipitating and predisposing factors, and the distribution of accident types among urban pedestrian accidents. Such a data collection system, when fully operational, provides a wealth of useful information and is suited for use in an accident-based evaluation of pedestrian safety countermeasures design to impact upon specific types of urban pedestrian accidents. /Author/
