TOWING WITH TWIN HULL VESSELS

A specifically-designed twin-hull vessel is proposed which may offer advantages over mono-hull forms for towing and salvage duties. The overall length and beam are 78 and 25.6 m respectively, the displacement 4,300 metric tons, the bhp 8,000, and the bollard pull over 110 tons. The advantages of the proposed design mentioned are improved stability and manoeuvrability, a totally-enclosed towing gear, and a deck area with ample space for accommodating equipment for other duties in addition to towing.
