ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF DIATOMACEOUS FILL. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE
A discussion of a technical note with the aforementioned title by Robert W. Day, published in this journal (Volume 121, Number 12, December 1995), is presented. Discussers Khilnani and Capik do not believe that the proposed engineering properties of diatomaceous soil presented by the author are supported by actual behavior of fills constructed of diatomaceous soils or the author's tests. Khilnani and Capik discuss the author's work, commenting on properties of shear strength and compressibility, as well as moisture content of diatoms. Discussion is followed by closure from the author.
