SHEAR CONSIDERATIONS FOR CONCRETE SHIPS AND OFFSHORE STRUCTURES
Local hull stresses due to hydrostatic loads, shears arising from the overall bending of the ship and torques from quartering, and large shears due to the tank loadings are considered. Reinforcements increasing the shear strength of thin slabs, including structural steel sections, bent bar and stirrups are reviewed.
