A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF CONCRETE REINFORCED WITH CARBON POLYETHYLENE, AND STEEL FIBERS AND THEIR IMPROVEMENT BY LATEX ADDITION. DISCUSSION.
A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by Chen and Chung, published in this journal (March-April 1996), is presented. Discusser Walters points out that there have been previous reports on the combined use of latex and steel fibers. Walters comments that the authors do not provide enough information about the latex, describing it only as styrenebutadiene. Walters also questions the quoted latex-cement ratio, the type of antifoam used, and the percentage of active antifoam used. Walters concludes with doubts about the validity of the comparison of mixtures with and without latex based on the curing conditions. No closure is offered by the authors.
