A SUMMARY OF RECENT RESEARCH INTO INJURIES RESULTING FROM LOW-SPEED REAR-END COLLISIONS
The occupants of vehicles that experience low-speed rear-end impacts -- generally defined as those that result in a change in velocity to the struck vehicle of 8 mph or less -- often content that they have suffered a variety of injuries. Recently, research into the type and severity of the injuries that can be expected in such collisions has increased. The following remarks are distilled from publications that have resulted from this research. Topics are, G-Forces and "Whiplash"; Temperomandibular Joint (TMJ); and Low Back (Lumbar) Injury.
