ROAD SAFETY PUBLICITY CAMPAIGNS (1993 - 1996)
This issue of Current Topics in Transport includes over 80 abstracts of some of the published literature (reports, conference papers, books and journal articles) on road safety publicity campaigns, looking at their content and effectiveness in influencing awareness, knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of drivers and other road users. Many specific campaigns are described, in the UK and abroad, focussing on topics such as seat belt use, speeding, drunken driving, wearing of crash helmets, use of daytime running lights, etc. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1993 and 1996. Much of the relevant English language literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
