PERFORMANCE OF TUBULAR MEMBERS UNDER CYCLIC AXIAL LOADS
In this paper the behaviour of pin-ended tubular steel members under cyclic axial loads is studied using the finite element method considering both geometrical and material non-linearities. The factors considered in this study are the cyclic loading characteristics (dispalcement amplitude and mean displacement), geometrical parameters (diameter-to-thickness ratio D/t and normalized slenderness ratio ) and inelastic chracteristics of the material. The results of numerical analysis are closely examined with respect to both ultimate strength and energy dissipation capacity.
