R & D PROJECT OF A CARGO SHIP FOR THE NSR
In association with the International Northern Sea Route Programme (INSROP), a research programme was carried out in Japan which aimed to deepen the understanding of the marine engineering aspects of the INSROP. An optimum type of Northern Sea Route (NSR) vessel was to be found through analysis of the INSROP data and information and the results of experiments with systematic series models of icebreaking cargo vessels in ice model basins and towing tanks. Evaluation of total performance of the vessels will be finally made by simulation of operation via the NSR.
