DEVELOPMENT TRENDS OF DIESEL POWERED SHIPS

ENTWICKLUNGSTENDENZEN VON SCHIFFSGETRIEBEN FUER DIESELMOTOREN

A survey of various design criteria for power transmissions on ships is presented. Examples are quoted of modern power transmissions with one or more engines. The problems of gearing, lubrication, sealing and vibrations are elucidated. The trend in application of control equipment is also outlined.
