PRELIMINARY STUDY ON CAVITATION SUPPRESSION EFFECTS OF SOLUTIONS
RICERCA PRELIMINARE SULLA CAVITAZIONE IN SOLUZIONI ACQUOSE
Experimental results of cavitation in two different water tunnels are presented. The cavitation performances of cylindrical models and NACA Profiles have been studied in water and in dilute solution of Polyox in water. The effects of scale, tunnels, hysteresis, methods of detection and polymer have been analyzed. The Polyox solution produced very high cavitation inhabition (about 46% reduction in sigma sub i) and propeller power reduction (about 18%).
