EARTH REINFORCEMENT AND SOIL STRUCTURES: 2ND EDITION

The book is intended for the practising engineer and post graduate providing a general treatment of reinforced soil. Although theoretical aspects are covered in some depth, the main emphasis is with the practical aspects of analysis, economics, construction details, materials and durability. A brief history is provided and examples are given of modern experiments. The interaction between soil and reinforcement is covered and material properties influencing the interaction are discussed. The fundamentals of the main analytical system are explained and details given of design procedures which may be used in a range of structural problems. A set of generalised constructional parameters are provided with information on constructional details that have been used successfully. The mechanism of corrosion is described together with the factors influencing the life of any structure. The use of polymeric reinforcement is emphasised. Four worked examples are provided, covering a wide range of topics included in the text.
