SINGLE BOILER RELIABILITY EXPERIENCE ON U.S. FLAG SHIPS
As a result of severe economic and labor pressures experienced by the marine industry in the early 1960's, a considerable interest was generated with regard to single boiler propulsion systems for large vessels. Recently, however, many individuals have expressed apprehension as to the reliability of single boiler ships and how these vessels may affect the marine environment. This paper makes both a qualitative and quantitative analysis of U.S. flag single boiler ship reliability.
